1.     PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT PRACTICES OF IMAMS  IN EUROPE            

  • Research: Imam training in Europe is a new field for researchers in Europe. Current research on programs is needed in Imam training, continuing professional development for Imams, challenges of the European dimension of Imam training. Research on professional knowledge, identity, beliefs and understanding of teaching and learning in Imam training, and building a research agenda for religious research.

 

  • Curricula: Curricula help to achieve the objectives of any program. Information on what type of curricula are used for training Imams in Europe, with attention to their objectives, duration, and the challenges facing this field.

 

  • Pedagogy: Research on pedagogical approaches in Imam training

 

  • In-service training: In-service training helps to equip Imams with updates and new trends in focused training contexts. There are many models used for in-service training.

 

  • Quality standards: Quality in teaching, training courses, assessment procedure, reference material to help to achieve the objective of quality education.

4.     MOSQUE AND SOCIETY

 

Analyze the role of mosques in policy making and policy implementation in Europe and/or state action and attitude toward Muslim communities. In a similar vein, we encourage papers addressing the public representation of mosques and the attitude towards the wider society that is preached or taught in mosques. Possible topics include:

 

  • What mosques represent in European society
  • Role of mosques in policy making and its implementation
  • Attitude of the society towards mosques
  • State and politics as affecting and being affected by Islamic perspectives
